"An Allegory of Italian Men" by Nuala Holloway



The Sienese painter Duccio di Buoninsegna's painting of the "Maesta" was carried through the streets of Siena in 1311 before being placed on the main altar in the Cathedral. Here "An Allegory of Italian Men" (Oil on Canvas) by artist Nuala Holloway is being carried through the streets of Florence before reaching the Palazzo Strozzi.

(This is the original oil painting which, accepted by the U.S. Embassy in Dublin, was presented to U.S. President Barack Obama on his first official state visit to Ireland in 2011. The Jeanie Johnston represents the type of ship President Obama's Irish ancestors would have sailed on as they headed for America. President Obama subsequently sent a personal letter of gratitude to Nuala for her gift)

Hollywood director to open Nuala's next exhibition

"Moments" - the new joint exhibition by artists Nuala Holloway and Jakki Moore is set to open on 2 December 2011 at the Sol Art Gallery, Dawson St., Dublin. Oscar nominated Hollywood director Jimmy T. Murakami will open the event. Murakami is a noted director, producer and animator whose works include "The Snowman", "When The Wind Blows" and he was involved in the production of the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" cartoon series. The exhibition will run until 9 December 2011 and is open to the public.

Jimmy Murakami was recently invited by Nuala Holloway to St. Killians Deutche schule, Clonskeagh where she is a secondary school teacher. Read more here: Southside People

Artist Nuala Holloway's Oil Painting Gift for U.S. President Obama



Artist and former Miss Ireland Nuala Holloway pictured above holding her oil painting "Famine Ship - Jeanie Johnston" accepted by the American Embassy in Ballsbridge, Dublin 4, Ireland which is to be presented to U.S. President Barack Obama on his visit to Ireland on 23 May 2011.
